- Station down since 07/15/2000. Phone line from road

to datalogger was cut. Notified Amy Irish-Brown.

- Downloaded data to fill in possible data gaps once

line is repaired.

: Station Maintenance

- Comments:

Needed to install solar panel and possibly troubleshoot modem

and/or phoneline troubles.

Burial-grade phone line that runs from the weather station

site to telephone pole is still above ground. Although wires

inside the access box near the station were connected, it

didn't look real stable so reconnections were made. The

phoneline from the access box to the modem was not run

through the hole at the bottom of the enclosure - it was

connected into the enclosure through the door, thus pinching

the cable when the door was closed. Decided to pull the

phone line with the other cables that come up through the

bottom of the enclosure.

Doesn't look like any herbicide has been applied to station

plot. Soil temps are currently under sod. Soil moisture

probes are fine as they are in a grassy area.

Solar panel was installed and datalogger was checked with the

Dell laptop and all data in the buffer was collected.

Data values checked at site looked good with increasing

battery voltage numbers reported.

Upon return to MSU, same troubles persist. The modem picks

up, but that is all. There is static on the line, but no

modem tones.

- jtb

- Solar Panel: New Hardware

Installed near the top of the mast, bracket

sits a few inches below coupling at the top

of the mast and the top edge of the solar

panel is about level with the bottom of the

coupling. Solar panel faces south with an

an angle of about 45-degrees.
