- Switched Air Temp/RH sensor (HMP155A) to "continous" power
- replace faulty air temp/rh sensor:
HC2S3 => HMP155A
- Replace faulty air temp/rh sensor (HC2S3)
- Station upgraded with serveral new sensors.
- loaded logger program "spo-bbbb"
- Due to upgrade, station was offline for the following:
06/03/2015 (d=154) 1205 - 06/03/2015 (d=154) 1400
- the "live" data updates were able to resume at:
06/05/2015 (d=156) 1155
- Due to faulty data, all LEAF1 was marked as MISSING for the
following time period:
01/01/2015 (d=001) 0005 - 05/12/2015 (d=132) 1800
- canopy sensor (leaf1) was replaced and relocated in trees
approx. 120 ft from station.
- also replaced standard leaf wetness sensor (leaf0)
- weed removal
- moved data-collection to new LoggerNet server
- loaded logger program "bbaa-spo"
- routine maintenance
- Routine maintenance
- cleaned temp/rh sensor
- Replaced data logger.
- Data record from new logger to begin at:
10/09/2013 (d=282) 16:05
- Temporary power issue with logger led to a loss of data
collection program. Program (ABCF) was reloaded, but
unfortunately, not before data was lost for the following
time period:
06/05/2013 (d=156) 1105 - 06/06/2013 (d=157) 1225
- Rain gauge unplugged.
- Replaced Modem
- General station maintenance (weed control, sensor checks)
- Soil Temperature Sensor (4") was replaced on 06/03/09.
As a result, all of the previous faulty SOIL1 data
that was recorded at the Sparta MAWN station during
the following period was removed:
05/26/05 (d=146) 00:05 - 06/03/09 (d=154) 15:00
- General station maintenance and system checks, including:
- Tipping-bucket rain gauge test (faulty pcpn data
that was introduced was removed on 06/08/09)
- Rain Collection bucket was found to be full of water
due to the funnel being clogged. The obstruction was
removed at 11:45am and the 0.57" was in turn logged
by the datalogger. Nearby manual observation was
recorded to be 1.00", therefore the precipitation
data prior to 05/27/09 may be inaccurate to to the
obstruction, but the rain gauge should be operating
properly now.
- Due to faulty leaf wetness (canopy) sensor, all canopy
sensor data was blanked out for the following time
period:
10/23/08 (d=297) 0915 - 03/09/09 (d=068) 1500
- Leaf Wetness 1 (Canopy Wetness) Sensor was repaired
between 14:30 - 15:00.

to the system.
- Time of Installation: 16:45, 19:00 (jtb)
- Additional data cleanup due to replacement of soil temperature
sensor (04/18/02). Examining data showed a steady decrease in
reliability of Soil Temp A (2-inch) after 07/01/2001 (approx.).
All Soil Temp A (2-inch) data between (and including) the
following dates were removed from the Sparta database tables:
start of removed records: 06/15/2001 (day=166) - 00:05
end of removed records: 04/18/2002 (day=108) - 18:00
- Replaced Soil Temp A (2-inch depth). Time of sensor
replacedment was 17:48.
Replacing the soil temperature sensors introduced errors to
the following variables at the listed report times - marked
the following as missing in the MAWN database tables for
Sparta:

- Replaced Precipitation Guage (current instrument
seems to have been out since April 1, 2001
- Moved and Reburied Soil Temperatures - installed in SW
quadrant of station:
Soil A: 2-inches under sod, W of S leg, N of Soil B
Soil B: 4-inches under sod, W of S leg, S of Soil A
- Buried Soil Temperature Probes (Horizontal Placement)
in SE quadrant of station:
Soil Moisture A: 04" depth, E of S leg, facing south
Soil Moisture B: 10" depth, E of S leg, facing south
- Needs:
Data Cleanup: Installation between approximately 6:30pm
and 7:30pm on 04/10/2001 required testing
precip gauge. Also, reinstalling soil temp
and soil moisture problems most likely
introduced faulty data - rawdata will
need to be corrected.
- Remove Precipitation Data Introduced Into Raw Data
File During Field Testing. The Following Entries
Were Reset Back To 0:
Data Code=5, Day=308, Time=1710

Data Code=24, Day=308, Time=2400
- Clean-Up Faulty Data. Tipping Bucket Rain Guage Was
Not Operating Properly Between 3:00am on September 12
(Day=256) and 5:15pm on November 3. Marked the following
precipitation data as missing:
Five Minute Data:
Day=256, Time=300 thru Day=308, Time=1715
Hourly Data:
Day=256, Time=400 thru Day=308, Time=1700
Daily Data:
Day=257, Time=2400 thru Day=307, Time=2400
- No Precipitation Recorded Since Sept 12. Appears
Electrical Surge on or near Sept 12, 2000 was the
cause.
- Replaced tipping bucket rain gauge. Installed on
pipe located on SW corner of station plot, 37-1/8"
from ground to top of tipping bucket (determined
high from previous installation). Tested with
5 clicks around 5:11pm (day=308, time.
- Daylight Savings Time Ended on Day=303, Time=200.
- Time of Obs were modified by one hour (subtracted)
from Day=303, Time=200 through Day=304, Time=1740.
Only Observation Times were modified, not times of
Maxs and Mins. Users will need to take that into
consideration when using this data.
- Updated Web Pages and rebuilt Sparta data in MAWN database.
- Downloaded data from datalogger. Loss of data between
(but not including) the following times:
Day=260, Time=1535 (Sep 16)
Day=263, Time=0930 (Sep 18)
due to electrical storm.
- Replace Modem (#3945) with new modem (#3947)
- "Ring" wire was disconnected (actually burnt
apart due to apparant electrical surge).
Replaced blue (ring) wing with extra orange/wire.
Left orange (tip) wire alone
- Service box by the road - switch blue (ring) wire
with orange/white wire. Connected to red (ring)
terminal. Left orange wire connected to green (tip)
terminal. Still no active line. Apparently heavy
electrical damage to service box.
- Current wiring:
Service Box -> green terminal (tip) -> orange wire
-> Datalogger Enclosure -> bottom surge terminal
-> TIP on modem
Service Box -> red terminal (ring) -> orange/white wire
-> Datalogger Enclosure -> upper surge terminal
-> RING on modem
- Downloaded data from datalogger. Loss of data between
(but not including) the following times:
Day=255, Time=0630 (Sep 11)
Day=255, Time=1955 (Sep 11)
Suspicious 2-inch soil temps, but inspection of
the site determined that soil temp probe was in
fact buried - soil cover = thick grass.
